Dr. Clarence E. Prill, D.C.

Dr. Clarence E. Prill, D.C Clarence Prill is a lifelong resident of Peoria, Illinois, born in 1925. His first experience concerning chiropractic was at age 13. His mother took him to Dr. Cecil Horsman for headaches, nausea and vomiting which had bothered him for years. After two months the symptoms were gone and health restored! Eventually, through Dr. Horsman's influence, Clarence decided to become a chiropractor. There were 80 students in the school at the time of his entrance into Palmer College of Chiropractic.

His years at Palmer brought him in contact with such notables as nurse Jacqueline Niel who assisted in the birth of the Dionne quintuplets, Dr. James Parker who went on to establish Parker College in Texas, Dr. Clay Thompson who developed the drop head piece and others. Graduation day at Palmer included one's hand being shaken personally by B.J. Palmer as he handed out the diplomas to each graduate.

Home to Illinois

Clarence returned home and began his practice in the small country towns, first, in Washington, Illinois, which was unsuccessful, and then, in Elmwood, Illinois. The Elmwood office went better than the Washington, however, he soon decided to return to Peoria, IL. He opened an office in his parents home in Peoria in 1951. Office calls were only $2 and x-rays were $10. Dr. Horsman was still his mentor and they remained close friends until Dr. Horsman's death many years later.

Image of Human Spine Chiropractors at that time were not licensed in Illinois. He was constantly under threat of arrest and imprisonment as were all chiropractors at that time in Illinois. Many were arrested and served jail time. Dr. Prill was heavily involved with the chiropractic associations working towards attaining licensure for their profession which finally happened in 1959. Eventually, the practice improved to the point he built a new facility at 3030 Marquette St., Peoria, IL in 1961 where he practiced until he retired.

Chiropractic Research and Publications

Chiropractic research became a way of life. In 1976-1978 he ran a series of articles in the Chiropractic Economics Magazine. His first book was "Researching Chiropractic Phenomenon." His second book was the "Chiropractic Concept." A letter he had written was picked up in the Chiropractic Journal. In 1986 he had the honor of speaking to the students of Sherman College which he enjoyed greatly.

Dr. Prill - A Family Man

Clarence Prill has always been a family man. He married Verna in 1951. Together, they had three children and five grandchildren. His practice was often a family practice as both wife and two daughters would be doing office duty throughout the years. He was heavily involved in his church, traveling around the country as time and money allowed, gardening and an avid photographer.

Verna suffered from Alzheimer's disease. He retired and lovingly took care of her by himself in their home till her death in 1995. Since then he lived quietly on his country acreage where he continued to be active in chiropractic research, personal travel, gardening, his church and family and promotion of his Technique until he went to be with the Lord in 2005.

A Lasting Legacy

While Dr. Prill is no longer available for personal consultation on his Technique, he has written his manual in such a way that it is easy to follow and understand. He left control of his Technique to his children who continue to make his training manual available.

Now that the children and grandchildren have to find chiropractors of their own, they are beginning to realize how hard it is to replace him. So many chiropractors simply do not have the analytic technique to adjust what needs to be adjusted.

This technique is Dr. Prill's legacy to the chiropractors of the world. It will benefit any practice. If you are a chiropractor, want to enhance your current skills, you will learn through this manual more than you ever realized.
